Now in its ninth edition, the NeuroIntensive Care training course has consistently been fully booked, confirming
a strong and continuing demand for high-level education among clinicians involved in the management of patients with acute brain injury. Despite the rapid evolution of neuroscience and critical care, most postgraduate programs still provide limited structured training in cerebral physiology, neuro- monitoring, neuroimaging interpretation, and multidisciplinary decision-making. This course was conceived to address these gaps through an integrated, competence-based educational approach, combining lectures from international experts with interactive discussions and extensive hands-on sessions focused on EEG, Doppler and ultrasound, multimodal monitoring, and neuroradiology.
Participants — primarily residents and specialists in Anesthesiology and Intensive Care, Neurosurgery, and Neurology— acquire both theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary to interpret complex physiological data and to translate them into individualized bedside management. By the end of the program, participants will be able to:
• Understand and apply the principles of cerebral physiology, perfusion, and metabolism to clinical care;
• Interpret multimodal monitoring data (ICP, CPP, brain oxygenation, EEG, imaging) for targeted treatment decisions;
• Recognize and manage major neurocritical conditions such as traumatic brain injury, subarachnoid and intracerebral hemorrhage, ischemic stroke, and post-anoxic coma;
• Perform structured neurological assessments and apply evidence-based prognostic frameworks;
• Integrate multidisciplinary perspectives to enhance patient outcomes in the neuro- intensive care environment.
Through this educational model, the course promotes the development of evidence-based, technically skilled, and collaborative professionals, fostering excellence and innovation in neurocritical care practice.
